am so excited about this next bit of news that I cannot type it fast enough!!!
I am very honored to introduce you to the
music and healing art of Unity Nguyen.
Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Unity Nguyen draws on many traditions
from around the world. Her music weaves together various languages
and instruments, including the dan tranh (16-string zither of Viet
Nam); and the kora (21-string harp of West Africa). Visit the CALENDAR to
catch a performance. Unity performs solo, or with various forms of
her Unity Nguyen Ensemble. She also collaborates with a number of hot
world music and dance groups. (See ENSEMBLES)
Unity also shares her passion by TEACHING music-movement
to diverse audiences. These classes range from several weekly programs
for pre-schoolers, to drum workshops with youth at risk, to private
lessons with adults.
Besides performing and teaching music, Unity holds a Master’s degree
in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

08, 2007. Yes, I am in Cali for a few months. The recording in Brasil is
coming along. We faced some personal & family
challenges along the way that have delayed the process, but progress is being
made. We continue to move forward. Mario and Ryan (keyboardist) are going
back later this month to lay down rhythm tracks, and I will return in January.
I will also be doing some traveling for the research project, but more on
that later.
Tomorrow evening, Sunday September 9 2007, Tchiya Amet & the
Light House Band will be performing in Santa Rosa, CA at a benefit for the
Caregiver Compassion Group at Oddfellows Hall. 545 Pacific Ave Santa Rosa,

Much gratitude for the
travels and recording experiences. So much is happening, and so quickly,
so much so that there is little time to type it before it is ancient history!
The BIG music news for today is that I leave for Rio de Janeiro August 6th
to complete the recording of the third CD, entitled "Celestial
Folk Music"!!!
No, the photos from the first visit are not up yet...soon come.
Other Musical news is that on September 22, for the Fall Equinox, Tchiya
Amet & the
Light House Band will begin a series of performances at Black
New World in West Oakland. I will be giving a Cultural
Astronomy Presentation
on the Fall
Equinox, and we will be joined by our musical guests and dear friends, Talking Wood:
a great Balafo band.
